It
is less than a week to go until the hotly anticipated Royal wedding of
Prince Harry and American actress and humanitarian Meghan Markle .
As
required by the Succession to the Crown Act, the first six royals in succession
for the throne are required to ask the queen for her permission to marry. So,
because Prince Harry is fifth in line, the law applied to him. Thankfully,
he got his grandmother’s approval, and according to an aide close to the
royals, the queen gave her approval for the two to wed “without hesitation”
“I declare my consent to a contract of
matrimony between my most dearly beloved grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert
David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle,” reads the letter, which bears the
queen’s signature in the top right corner.
The
wedding is this weekend - Saturday, May 19 - at St George’s
Chapelin the grounds of Windsor Castle, where Prince Harry was christened.
It is said to have become a "very special place" for the couple
in their relationship so far.
The couple,
who became engaged in November last year when the Prince got down on one knee
as they cooked a roast chicken at his Kensington Palace home, Nottingham
Cottage, have been heavily involved in the planning of the celebration.
The service
will begin at 12pm. The public will have the opportunity to watch the
action from their sofas with several broadcasters showing the ceremony
live under the guidance of Harry's private secretary, Edward Lane Fox, the Lord
Chamberlain's Office is dealing with the ceremonial aspects of the day.
The
Duke of Cambridge will be Harry's best man,.
